born Rony Zakaria was graduated from college with a
degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. He taught
himself photography during his college years.
He studied photography for one year in 2006 at Galeri
Foto Jurnalistik Antara. His final project "From
Zero to Hero", which focused on the post-war era
in war torn region Aceh, was exhibited at the gallery.
Since then he has received commissions to document various
issues in Indonesia and South East Asia.
In 2008 and 2009, He received two photographic grants
from FAO and Mochtar Lubis Award to pursuit his personal
projects in Indonesia. His works have been published
in many leading publications including Time Asia, Monocle
magazine, BBC and Asian Geographic among others. Zakaria's
works have been exhibited in Jakarta, Marseille, Pattaya,
Taipei and Bangladesh.
He divided his time between Jakarta and Bali, Indonesia.
